PPG will present its sustainably advantaged solutions for automotive manufacturing during the 2024 CARES congresses in Dearborn, Michigan, Oct. 23-24 and Paris, Nov. 13-14.
CARES is a two-day event highlighting the innovative techniques and strategies used in sustainable automotive manufacturing. The goal is to create a forum where automotive manufacturers can discuss and exchange with their suppliers to achieve a more sustainable manufacturing process.
During the U.S. program, PPG will present the benefits of its paint films solutions. These provide a range of environmental benefits, including lower energy required for application on vehicles compared to liquid paints, as well as new aesthetic options. The technology also has potential applications across a range of other industrial end uses.
During the European program, PPG and Stellantis will partner to present electrocoat innovations that drive sustainability advantages within the automotive OEM paint shop. Historically, the paint shop is the most energy-intensive area of automotive OEM facilities. PPG solutions, such as PPG ENVIRO-PRIME® EPIC 300 electrocoat, can cure faster and at lower temperatures than previous electrocoat technologies, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the paint shop.
“Sustainability is core to PPG’s purpose to protect and beautify the world,” said Thierry Destruhaut, PPG global customer sustainability business partner, Automotive OEM Coatings. “The automotive industry continues to transform rapidly and sustainability is a key area of focus for our automotive customers. We are enabling our customers’ transformation through a full range of industry-leading battery cell materials, adhesives, sealants, films and coatings.”
