Job Description:
The Process and Formulation Chemist is responsible for continuous improvement of current polymeric coatings and ink dispersions working closely with GM Nameplate’s current vendors. This position will investigate new coatings and inks using innovative raw materials to formulate coatings and inks for metal decoration with the appropriate physical properties as per market place requirements.

Job Description:

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Knowledge of polymers, resins, crosslinking agents, matting agents, solvents and other critical additives
- commonly used in the coatings and ink industries. Expertise in metal decorating is a plus.
- Knowledge of common resins systems such as 1K and 2K urethanes, epoxies, melamines and UV acrylates.
- Knowledge of pigment dispersions with an understanding of resin to pigment critical concentration ratios.
- Knowledge of testing protocols for coated or printed metals (especially aluminum and stainless steel). Typical
- test methods for adhesion, flexibility, formability, flow, weather resistance and corrosion resistance are
- commonly used.
- Ability to identify and resolve product quality problems.
- An understanding of DOE’s, Statics and Probability, Pareto Charts or some data management techniques
- Ability to write process control documents and new or revised operating procedures for continuous
- improvement.
- Willing to learn and obtain the RCRA and DOT certifications to manage and reduce GM Nameplate’s Hazardous
- Waste streams in compliance to Federal and State Regulations..
- Use MS Office and possibly other software programs like MS project management or Minitab..
- Good verbal, comprehension and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work with a focus on efficiency and safety.
- Ability to work under time constraints with changing priorities.
- Follow directions and work in a team environment.
