The Metropolitan New York Coatings Association (MNYCA) held its annual dinner and meeting May 10th. A tour of the Montclair Art Museum was followed by cocktail hour and dinner at the Highlawn Pavillon Eagle Rock Reservation in East Orange.
Jason Anagnostis, president of the MNYCA opened the meeting. This year the MNYCA is focused on adding value to its membership and recruiting younger people into the paint and coatings industry. “Our workshop this fall will be focused on how to work with the local colleges and universities to recruit new talent in all areas, including technical, sales and management. The second area we are emphasizing is that we are looking to develop a mentorship program to develop future leaders in the coatings industry.”
Awards Ceremony
The Helen M. Senker Memorial Scholarship awards which were given to six individuals. Funding for these scholarships is provided by the club’s annual golf outing, holiday party 50/50 and sponsors.
The Winners were Adina Radu, daughter of Alex Radu, Technical Manager, Shamrock Technologies, Christian Gehres, son of Christine Genres, Marketing VP Business Unit, Heucotech; Hannah Venturini, daughter of Michael Venturini, Marketing, Sun Chemical; Jennifer Reyes, sister/guardian of Gladys Michelle Dimitriiadis, Chemist, Troy Corp.; Kyle Penny, son of Thomas Penny, R&D Manager, Benjamin Moore and Olivia Anagnostis, daughter of Jason Anagnostis, VP/GM POR Products.
The next three awards were given to members. The Distinguished Service Awards was given to Jason Anagnostis
The Merit Citation Award was give to Jason Anagnostis
The President’s Achievement Award was given to John Kehmna.
MNYCA is a coatings industry hub. With a 129-year track record and an ever-expanding number of member companies (Currently 90+), the organization strives to bring people together from every corner of the industry.
