Automotive coatings are important in both the appearance of the vehicle as well as its performance. While one’s personal car is of course most important, the vehicles we see on the motorsport tracks require expert care when it comes to coatings. After all, these cars are seen by millions of fans.
This year marks the 31st year of the Ferrari Challenge Europe, as 47 drivers compete in Ferraris on some of the legendary tracks in Europe. Among the top drivers in the field is Mohamed Hamdy, also known as "The Egyptian Pharaoh." Hamdy is the first Egyptian driver to race for Ferrari, which has brought much attention from his fans, and he has a top 10 finish to show for this year’s results over the first two races.
Founded in 1985, Kapci Coatings has its headquarters in Port Said, Egypt, and has become a leading worldwide brand of automotive refinishing coatings, exporting its products to more than 70 countries around the world. Kapci Coatings has definitely taken notice of Hamdy, and as a result, Kapci Coatings is sponsoring Hamdy in this year’s Ferrari Challenge Europe 2023 races.
Amr ElSayed, member of board of directors, said that sponsoring Hamdy was a natural fit for Kapci.
“Mohamed Hamdy is a relatively new name in the racing world,” Amr ELSayed noted. “However, his recent signing with Ferrari Challenge Europe has garnered significant attention in Egypt and the racing community. As the first Egyptian driver to race for Ferrari, Hamdy has become a source of national pride and inspiration for aspiring racers in his home country.”
“Partnering with Mohamed Hamdy and his team is a great honor for Kapci Coatings, as it allows the company to support a talented and ambitious driver while promoting its brand and products to a wider audience,” Ahmed Abo Hashish, export manager for Kapci Coating,. “Moreover, this partnership aligns with Kapci's values of excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction, which are also central to Hamdy's approach to racing.”
KapcI Coatings has long been a sponsorship in motorsports, having supported local drivers and helping develop the motorsport industry in Egypt. Ahmed Balbola, Kapci’s international marketing manager, noted during the sponsorship announcement that Kapci’s activities range from sponsoring the Honda Day event to assembling racing teams for drift, speed, and rally, and sponsoring the Abu Dhabi Racing Team in F3 Asia, among other activities.
“Kapci Coatings has been active in motorsports for several years, starting in 2015 by supporting local racing events and sponsoring teams in various disciplines, including drift, speed, and rally,” Khaled Sorour, international business director, said. “This involvement has allowed the company to develop and test its products under extreme conditions and to build relationships with drivers and enthusiasts who appreciate the quality and performance of Kapci coatings.”
There is a lot of technology that is needed for automotive refinishing coatings, and Khaled Sorour noted that Kapci’s expertise in the market make their coatings ideals for the rigors of the race track as well as for everyday driving.
“Kapci's automotive refinish coatings are ideal for race cars as well as everyday vehicles because they are formulated to deliver excellent color matching, durability, and gloss retention, while also being easy to apply and sand,” he said. “These properties make Kapci coatings suitable for both professional and amateur racers who demand high performance and reliability from their vehicles. Additionally, Kapci's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility ensures that its coatings are safe and compliant with the latest regulations.”
