CROMPTON NAMES MURREL VP
URETHANES BUSINESS, ODANIELL
HEAD OF UNIFIED SPECIALTY
CHEMICALS BUSINESSES
William Murrel has been named vice
president of Crompton’s urethanes
business unit, responsible for managing
the strategic business operations
and global growth of the urethanes
business. He will
also have additional
responsibility
for overseeing the
company’s oleochemicals
business
segment. Murrel
joined Witco Corp.
in 1999 as vice
president–Americas for the company’s
oleochemcials and derivatives
business group. Most recently, he
was vice president of olefins and
styrenics for Crompton Corp., following
the merger of Crompton and
Knowles and Witco Corp.
Crompton has also named Myles
S. Odaniell executive vice president,
specialty chemicals. Odaniell will
have responsibility for Crompton’s
entire portfolio of chemicals businesses,
which includes polymer
additives, polymers and refined
products, with combined annual
sales of approximately $1.7 billion.
Mary L. Gum, executive president,
performance chemicals and elastomers
group, will remain with the
company to work on special projects
until her retirement at the end of
William Murrel the year.
