HMG Paints Ltd is taking part in the Great Manchester 10K Run, which takes place May 19, 2019.
The company will support four charities selected by employees.
HMG will also be running for Forever Manchester, which works with local communities to inspire and encourage projects that they want to see to make their neighborhoods happier, healthier and safer places to be.
“My nephew was born with a Cleft Palate in 2013 and has been in hospital regularly ever since. I never realized the struggles of being born with a Cleft Palate and how long the effects last through life until then," said Anthony Kenyon, production operative, HMG Paints. "I have taken part in the 10K run for CLAPA a number of times but this time, with the large group of my colleagues and friends, I am really looking forward to running for my nephew and making him proud.”
Manchester Mind is a member of the national Mind network and has been delivering support services since 1989. All local Minds are independent charities who raise their own funds. Manchester Mind provides support and information to more than 5,000 young people and adults across the city. In addition, they offer community and employer training to develop awareness and promote wellbeing.
“After our launch in 2018, we have been able to see exactly where the donations are going to go and just how much running the 10K and raising vital funds is going to help each charity nationwide and locally to HMG in Manchester," said Gracienne Ikin, communications manager, HMG Paints.
In November 2017, HMG Paints was the first company to win the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the British Coatings Federation's Annual Awards evening for its two-year partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support.
HMG Paints launched an initiative in 2018 focusing on local charities. The company pledged support to The Motor Neurone Disease Association, Forever Manchester, The Cleft Lip and Palate Association and Manchester Mind, and set a target of £6,000 via its fundraising website.
“I have been fundraising for the Motor Neurone Disease Association with my family and friends since my husband was diagnosed in 2017," said Alison Edmondson, purchase ledger supervisor for HMG. "The MNDA being one of HMG’s chosen charities has been a huge boost to us through an incredibly difficult time and it is touching to see so many of my colleagues come together to run the 10K, and raise vital funds for the MNDA as well as the three other fantastic charities.”

The Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on improving access to care, research and campaigning for Motor Neurone Disease, an uncommon fatal condition that affects the brain and nerves.

“It’s fantastic that a local company recognizes the value of supporting local grassroots community activity that makes a difference on their doorstep, where they work and where their staff and customers live,” said Jean Mills, head of business development at Forever Manchester.
