Vertellus, a global manufacturer of fine and specialty chemicals, has introduced Polycin XP EP3 to coating manufacturers during the American Coatings Show in Indianapolis. Polycin XP EP3 is a stable and robust castor oil-based emulsifiable polyol offering a wide level of formulating flexibility enabling coating formulators to reduce development time while maintaining or improving emulsion stability and coating performance, the company stated.

Polycin XP EP3 permits users to easily adjust the formulation as needed for a wide range of applications by adding water and other additives. The versatility of Polycin XP EP3 makes it well suited across a wide range of concrete coating applications requiring various levels of performance via the addition of cross-linkers, plasticizers, and additives.  “Formulators regularly face the challenge of balancing emulsion stability and final coating performance. During testing and model formulation, Polycin®* XP EP3 was able to achieve both emulsion stability and coating performance in various commercial formulations,” said Kwyne Pugh, senior scientist, Vertellus.

During testing, Polycin XP EP3 emulsions and coatings performed favorably when compared to commercially available products. For example, coatings containing Polycin XP EP3 showed greater stability at room temperature and under multi-cycle freeze/thaw when compared to other commercial polyol emulsions. Testing also concluded that Polycin XP EP3 improves the wet-out and impact resistance of the floor coating.

Vertellus provided a 15-minute overview of Polycin XP EP3 during the American Coatings Show on Tuesday, April 12, at 9:20 a.m. in the Product Presentation Theater. Additional information about Vertellus and Polycin XP EPE will be available at booth 2556 during the American Coatings Show.
