Stahl was acquired by Henkel for €2.1 billion. The transaction marks the handover of Stahl after 20 years of majority ownership by Wendel.

The company has 14 manufacuring facilities worldwide and employees approximately 1,700 people.

2025 marked the completion of a multi-year transformation for Stahl. Stahl recenelty completed the carve-out of its wet-end leather chemicals business. The wet-end leather chemicals business will operate as a fully independent company named Muno, under the majority ownership of Wendel.

According to the company’s annual report, this milestone marks the conclusion of Stahl’s multi-year strategic transformation, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening its leadership in specialty coatings for flexible materials. By divesting its wet-end leather chemicals activities, Stahl has made a deliberate strategic shift towards becoming a pure-play specialty coatings formulator.

Stahl has once again been awarded the Platinum rating by EcoVadis for its sustainability performance. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the company has achieved the highest possible rating.

EcoVadis, a globally recognized provider of business sustainability ratings, evaluates more than 175,000 companies across environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria. The Platinum rating places Stahl among the top 1% of all assessed companies worldwide, highlighting its unwavering commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.
