Jotun Paints will be supplying paint for the LE20 billion (~$3.7 billion) Cairo Festival City project, a 2.5 million square meter mixed-use development that is set to feature Egypt's first indoor-outdoor retail resort and entertainment complex.
The delivery of approximately 10 million liters of paints, for the project is expected to drive the manufacturer’s efforts to capture a larger share of the LE1.2 billion (~$225 million) Egyptian paint market.
Jotun is currently working on the first phase of the Cairo Festival City project and has recently completed the first five prototype villas using a combination of specialized paints for project. Fenomastic Primer, Stucco and Fenomastic Emulsion Matt are being used for the internal acrylic paint system to be used for the interior of Festival Center and Festival Village, business and retail hotels, residential buildings, clubhouse and commercial offices.
“Cairo Festival City transcends the archetypal shopping mall to encompass a total retail, hospitality, leisure, lifestyle and business environment within a rapidly growing tourism landscape, and we are truly proud to be a part of this monumental development,” said Sherif Kassem, mega projects manager, Jotun Paints. “Through our innovative painting solutions, we have been able to meet the needs of the entire project, which is a huge step for us to realize our goal of increasing our share in this high potential market.”
For the exterior surfaces, Jotun’s team has recommended the Jotashield Alkali Resistant Primer, the highly alkali resistant acrylic water base primer with excellent penetrating properties. For a tough and durable premium quality texture that can withstand heavy weather conditions, the team advised the decorative external acrylic texture paint, Profile Decor and Heavy Tex.
“Our involvement with this massive project provides us with a great opportunity to showcase the quality of our products to an audience, which will be comprised of international tourists and locals” added Kassem. “This contract will provide us with additional leverage to maximize the opportunities within the Egyptian paint market, and also stand as a testament to our aggressive stance in acquiring high value contracts from the region’s most prestigious projects, as we move forward to reinforce our leadership in the region.”
