International Paint LLC, an AkzoNobel company and one of the world’s leading providers of high-performance protective coatings, linings and fire protection products, has promoted Brad Berkmeyer to protective coatings technical manager, North America.
In this new role, Berkmeyer will be responsible for managing and overseeing all of the technical services, support and research and Ttchnology (R&T) activities related to the company’s International Paint, Devoe, Environline and Ceilcote brands serving the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
Berkmeyer has more than 15 years of R&T experience in the coatings industry ranging from emulsion polymer development, to the formulation of solvent and water-based coatings for consumer and industrial uses. He began his career with AkzoNobel in 2004 as research and development manager for the company’s newly acquired decorative coatings business. In 2007 Berkmeyer was promoted to protective coatings technical manager over U.S. operations, where he served until his recent promotion.
Berkmeyer earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Baldwin Wallace College, and a master’s degree in polymer science from the University of Akron. In addition, he holds a NACE CIP Level 2 certification.
