Safic-Alcan acquires Dutch company Necarbo, a specialist in additives for coatings and inks

Published February 9, 2012
Safic-Alcan, an international distribution group of chemical specialties, has acquired Necarbo, a Dutch-based chemical distributor belonging to PPG group. This NL-based company was formally owned by PPG Industries and specializes in chemicals and additives for the coatings, inks and water treatment industries.

Necarbo, based in Beverwijk, employs 48 people and reported sales of €60 million in 2011. Necarbo is known for its "own-branded" products including Nebolabels, Nebores, Neboplast, Nebotints and Nebochips. In addition, Necarbo also offers a range of products distributed via strategic partnerships with their key principals.

This acquisition will strengthen Safic-Alcan's position within the coatings and inks industry, specifically within Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Malaysia and Middle East.

Founded in 1847, Safic-Alcan is a privately-owned company, based in Puteaux, France. The company employs 325 people and is operating in more than 25 countries with global sales of €335 million in 2011.
