McDonald joins Hempel oil and gas team

James McDonald, has joined the oil and gas team within Hempel Coatings as the primary engineering representative for the onshore upstream market. McDonald has spent more than a decade in the protective coatings industry, performing a variety of roles, including sales, project management, and new business development.

McDonald will be responsible for onshore upstream engineering sales activities in the US. His focus will be continuing Hempel Coatings and Blome Linings development on exploration and production companies in emerging oil and oas plays across the U.S. (Bakken Shale, Eagle Ford Shale, Marcellus Shale, Niobrara, Woodbine) as well as more mature fields (Permian Basin, Fort Worth Basin, Uintah Basin).

McDonald's most recent contribution to the protective coatings industry has been as the developer of CoatingsCalculator.com, where he is the self-proclaimed “numbers nerd”. CoatingsCalculator.com has been nominated for this year’s NACE Innovation of the year award.
