A biocidal composition, useful for protection of paints, wood and sealants, has been patented in Europe by Avecia Ltd. It is comprised of 3-5C alkyl-1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one and a metal complex of cyclic thiohydroxamic acid, eg. 2:1 zinc salt of 3-hydroxy-4-methyl thiazol-2(3H)-thione or 1-hydroxypyridin-2-thione.
