DuPont recently sponsored a car painting contest
at the 2001 Seoul, Korea, 36th World Skills
Competition, providing finishes, mixing
machines and technical support. “As an official
sponsor of the car painting contest, we were
able to communicate the prowess of DuPont
Refinish products to people around the world,”
said Jin-hee Lee, Korea marketing manager for
Dupont Performance Coatings.
The winner of the contest was Kwang-shik
Kim of South Korea, an employee of Kia Motors
Co., who was trained at the DuPont Korea
Refinishing Center. According to DuPont
Refinish, sponsoring events such as the carpainting
contest at the World Skills
Competition helps to keep its brands and products
in the public eye.
The goal of the World Skills Competition is to provide young people with insight into various
vocational trades and encourage higher performance through competition. This year, approximately
700 people from 35 countries demonstrated their skills in 45 trades, including welding,
industrial electronics, carpentry, hairdressing, graphic design and car painting
