A European patent covering domestic appliances with catalytic coatings with deodorant properties has been awarded to Institute Fur Neue Materialen Gem. GmbH & BSH Bosch. The coatings are obtained from compositions containing polycondensate of hydrolyzable organosilane(s) and, optionally, compounds of glass-forming elements and particles of transition metal oxide(s) in specified proportions. It is heated to 200-700°C after application.
