Construction at the site of the former World Trade Center
in New York of a temporary Port Authority Trans-Hudson
(PATH) station has begun and Sherwin-Williams’ coatings
are playing a role in rebuilding the underground station
and the steel columns that will support what will be rebuilt
above. Although it has not been determined what type of
facility will be built at the site, the steel columns are
designed to support a wide range of redevelopment options
aboveground. Bridgewater Protective Coatings, Inc. (BPC),
Bridgewater, NJ, has applied a three-coat paint system to
the structural steel. The system–an organic zinc-rich
primer, epoxy intermediate coat and an aliphatic
polyurethane finish product–was supplied by Sherwin-
Williams.
