BASF Coatings AG has opened a new Pevicoat technical service center at Alumasa, a Spanish manufacturer
of venetian blinds, roller blinds and window shutters. The new center, located at Alumasa’s facility
in Badajoz, Spain, is the first of its kind in the country.
The Pevicoat system was installed by BASF Naber SA, a joint venture between BASF Coatings and
Industrias Quimicas Naber S.A.
With BASF’s Pevicoat system, a paint mixing station is set up next to a coil coater’s paint line.
Requiring floor space of just under 300 sq.-meters, the system’s software analyzes color samples and
calculates matching formulas. According to BASF, with Pevicoat, it is possible to mix any color and gloss
level within 24 hours, down to a minimum quantity of 50 liters.
While BASF initially developed the system for mixing and processing polyester-based paints, the
Alumasa unit has been modified to work with textural polyurethane-based paints—a first for the
Pevicoat system.
