Patent No. U.S. 6,544,328 B2
Kerr-McGee Chemical has received a patent for a process for preparing a pigment which is dispersible in paints and plastics concentrates. It entails mixing a particulate pigment with water to form a slurry of the pigment and water; mixing a surface active agent with the slurry of the first step so that the pigment is coated. The surface active agent being selected from the group consisting of ethoxylated sorbitan derivatives having HLB values in the range of from one to about 20, a mixture of non-ethoxylated mono and diglycerides and ethoxylated mono and diglycerides having HLB values in the range of from one to about 20 and mixtures of the ethoxylated sorbitan derivatives, the non-ethoxylated mono and diglycerides and the ethoxylated mono and diglycerides; and drying the pigment coated in accordance with the second step.
