BASF AG has been granted a patent for a dirt-repellant coating. Dirt-repellant surfaces are obtained by priming a substrate with (hot- melt) adhesive or polymeric dispersion to give tacky surface and then applying particles of specified size with surface energy of at least 20 mN/m. Plastic surfaces may be heated to above Tg or be treated with solvent.
