Rohm and Haas has been granted
a patent for a coating composition
that is comprised of a bimodal aqueous
emulsion copolymer. The
bimodal copolymer is comprised as
polymerized units from 0.1-10% by
weight, based on the dry weight of
the copolymer, of a compound selected
from the group consisting of at
least one strong acid monomer and
salts. The copolymer is comprised of
small mode particles having a diameter
of from 50-150 nm; the copolymer
is comprised of large mode particles
having a diameter of less than
400 nm, and the ratio of small mode
particles to large mode particles is
from 10:90 to 90:10 by weight
