Patrick Thomas has been appointed chairman of the board of management of Bayer MaterialScience. Thomas succeeds Hagen Noerenberg, who ended his active employment with the Bayer Group at the end of 2006. Thomas’ experience includes a stint in 1999 at U.S. chemicals company, Huntsman Corp. as president of the polyurethanes, performance and advanced materials divisions, based in Belgium. After a brief period as a management consultant for various private equity companies he joined Bayer MaterialScience in August 2006.
