Patent No. U.S. 7,163,981 B2
Toyota Technical Center, U.S.A, Inc. has been granted a patent for an aqueous paint composition. The aqueous paint composition is comprised of a water-soluble pure acrylic resin as a binder resin and a polycarbodiimide compound as a crosslinking agent; with the aqueous paint composition further comprising acrylic resin beads and urethane resin beads, wherein: in terms of solid component, the ratio of the water-soluble pure acrylic resin relative to 100 parts by weight of the binder resin is in the range of 17 to 30 parts by weight, and the ratios of the acrylic resin beads and of the urethane resin beads relative to 100 parts by weight of the total of the binder resin and the crosslinking agent are in the range of 52 to 98 parts by weight and in the range of 10 to 42 parts by weight respectively; and the equivalent ratio of the carbodiimide groups of the polycarbodiimide compound relative to the carboxyl groups of the water-soluble pure acrylic resin is in the range of 0.1 to 1.
