RPM International Inc. reported record sales and earnings for its fiscal 2008 first quarter ended August 31, 2007. Sales and earnings growth were led by the company’s industrial segment, while consumer segment results strengthened and showed improvement year-over-year. Record first-quarter net sales of $930.3 million increased 10.2% over the $844.2 million reported a year ago.
RPM’s industrial segment continued its strong growth pattern that began in calendar 2005. Sales in the fiscal 2008 first quarter increased 11.5% to $608.0 million from $545.3 million a year ago. Consumer segment sales improved by 7.9% in the quarter, to $322.4 million from $298.9 million.
