International Paint LLC, an AkzoNobel company, and one of the world’s leading providers of high-performance and fire protection coatings, is the first coatings manufacturer to sponsor the NACE Coatings Inspector Program-Level I course for key customers and industry contractors throughout Kazakhstan, in Central Asia.
The course was held in August, 2008 at the Renaissance Hotel in the nation’s capital of Atyrau. More than 25 TengizChevrOil (TCO) employees, company subcontractors, and leading blasting and painting contractors in yards across Kazakhstan, gathered for an intensive week-long training provided by several instructors including NACE Certified Instructor and International Paint’s Global Account Manager for Chevron, David Hunter.
“We were pleased to see such a high level of interest for this initiative,” said Hunter. “NACE training brings with it a credibility that is difficult to match.”
Hunter went on to say, “All of the students worked very hard to demonstrate the proficiency required to receive the NACE designation.”
The course is part of an ongoing, long-term partnering effort between International Paint and TCO to simplify specifications, increase coating availability and affordability, as well as raise the quality of the work carried out on site. A separate field day for the students was sponsored by Cape Industrial Services in Atyrau.
