World Pharmaceutical Trust has been granted a patent for a water-based polyurethane coating system, the improvement is comprised of incorporating into the system antimicrobial phenolic complexes in an amount of approximately 2% to 10% by weight, the phenolic complexes is comprised of the reaction products of a member of the group consisting of phenol and O-phenyl phenol with a member of the group consisting of succinic acid and an antimicrobial diamine.
