Dunn-Edwards Names Viridian Odyssey as First Color of the Century

Dunn-Edwards Corporation announced its first-ever Color of the Century, Viridian Odyssey (DE1925), a deep, sophisticated shade of blue-green reminiscent of gazing into the shadowy depths of the ocean. A new addition to the Dunn-Edwards Color Collection, Viridian Odyssey combines blue and green, striking a balance between cool serenity and natural warmth.

A celebration of Dunn-Edwards 100-year history, the selection was made after extensive research and ex-ploration of the top trending colors across the decades. In experts’ findings, blue and green consistently emerged as the most prominent hues across all years.

Tapping into the findings of their research, the Dunn-Edwards color experts identified a hue that flawlessly represented the nostalgia of the past – Viridian Odyssey.

“Since 1925, Dunn-Edwards has been dedicated to shaping the world of paint, color, and design, and Vi-ridian Odyssey has been there all along – symbolizing life, growth, and resilience with an understated ele-gance deeply rooted in the nature surrounding us,” said Lauren Hoferkamp, lead color expert at Dunn-Edwards. “While the Color of the Century honors the past and everything that’s brought us to this point, it also symbolizes a readiness for the next 100 years.”

Alongside the release of Viridian Odyssey and the company’s 100-year anniversary celebration, Dunn-Edwards is also announcing that, beginning February 11, it will release a new decade-inspired color palette every three weeks in 2025.

Each curated collection pays tribute to a defining historical moment, reflecting each era’s iconic styles, trends, and moods. These timeless hues capture the spirit of the past while remaining fresh, modern, and effortlessly stylish today—a vibrant tribute to 100 years of color and design.
