This month’s issue takes an in-depth look at the aerospace coatings market. Associate Editor, Catherine Diamond interviewed the leading aerospace coatings manufacturers for our cover story on the Aerospace Coatings Market. Experts from PPG, AkzoNobel, Mankiewicz, Hentzen and Sherwin-Williams offer their insight into this high growth market. Research firm Market and Market reports that the global aerospace coatings market, along with its end-user industry, has witnessed a strong growth for the past few years and this growth is estimated to increase in the coming years. “The properties, such as faster product drying times, light-weight coating systems durability, unique color styling, variety of colors, increased productivity, environment-friendly solutions, and an upsurge in the demand in commercial and military aerospace coatings will be the key influencing factors for the global aerospace coatings, with an increased emphasis on its user types and their end-user industries,” Market and Market researchers noted. Additonally, Correspondent Charles Thurston takes a look at the Latin America aerospace coatings segment. According to Thurston, Latin America’s relatively steady economic growth suggests that the regional demand for aviation coatings will more than double GDP expansion, predicted by the World Bank to be 1 percent this year and back to a more normal 2.3 percent next year. Boeing projects Latin American airlines will need 3,050 new airplanes valued at $350 billion in the next two decades, tripling the region’s current fleet size. “Over the long term, Latin American economies will grow faster than the rest of the world,” said Donna Hrinak, the president of Boeing Latin America. “This growth will create increased passenger traffic in the region and drive Latin American airlines to expand and compete for business that has traditionally been dominated by foreign operators.”
