AkzoNobel’s marine coatings brand, International, launched Intersleek 2120, a new silicone foul-release coating ideal for the operational and regulatory realities of modern fleets.

Unveiled at Posidonia in Athens, Intersleek 2120 expands access to the proven silicone technology from International for vessel operators, delivering reliable, predictable performance aligned with day-to-day operating conditions.

Intersleek 2120 is designed for vessel operators transitioning from biocidal self-polishing copolymer (SPC) systems who are seeking to improve hull performance in response to increasing regulatory and efficiency pressures.

Delivering speed-loss performance of up to 1.4%, it is particularly well suited to vessels such as bulkers and tankers, as well as a wider range of vessel types and operating profiles. Compared to established industry silicone systems, Intersleek 2120 requires fewer coats within the overall scheme, reducing application time and associated drydock costs.

Daniel Stapleton, Marine Deep Sea Marketing Manager, commented, “For 30 years, Intersleek has defined what silicone foul release technology can achieve for the maritime industry. With Intersleek 2120, we are extending that trusted platform to a broader range of operators with a solution that is designed around their operating profile, performance and value expectations.”

Intersleek 2120 is available globally and joins the comprehensive marine coatings portfolio from International, including its flagship silicone foul-release solution, Intersleek 1100SR.
