Glidden paint named Byzantine Blue (50BB 32/117), a playful yet peaceful purple, as the 2017 Color of the Year.

“The name may say blue, but Byzantine Blue is truly a purple in disguise. It stretches the boundaries of purple to borrow all of best qualities of blue and gray, making it an appealing color choice for nearly any room,” said Misty Yeomans, PPG color marketing manager, Glidden paint.

Yeomans noted that Byzantine Blue is interesting because it appears to be more gray when paired with dark neutrals, yet it appears more bluish-purple when partnered with whites. “Its unique versatility and incredible ability to bring out certain hues based on its surroundings make Byzantine Blue a perfect shade for all ages. It is also gender-neutral, making it easy to use throughout your home.”

Byzantine Blue is elegant enough for any homeowner’s style, whether traditional, modern or somewhere in between. Yeomans recommended this color for any do-it-yourselfer looking to create balance in life and to establish a home base in which to refocus energy.
