PPG Industries’ fiber glass business has expanded the HYBON direct draw roving portfolio with a product providing a combination of processing and performance properties superior to those of products currently available in the marketplace. New HYBON 2662 direct draw roving will be featured at CAMX: The Composites and Advanced Materials Expo at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, Oct. 13-16, and will be showcased throughout 2015 at target trade shows, expositions and industry events. HYBON 2662 direct draw roving is compatible with multiple processes, such as multiaxial knitting, pultrusion and woven roving applications, and it is designed to reinforce polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy resin systems. “The excellent processing performance of this product and its low abrasion in weaving, knitting and braiding applications enable us to offer customers an alternative for a wide range of end-use applications,” said Richard Heilman, PPG global business director, direct draw fiber glass products. “Because HYBON 2662 roving uses an APE-free binder system, PPG is offering not only a better-performing product but also one that is compliant with current environmental regulations around the world.” The E-Glass product is currently produced in the U.S. and is globally available in various TEX/YIELD options in filament diameters ranging from 15 microns to 34 microns. “We are a worldwide leader in quality reinforcement and yarn solutions for a variety of markets,” said Kevin McDonald, PPG vice president, fiber glass. “The launch and commercial availability of HYBON 2662 fiber glass roving supports our customer-focused strategy of delivering innovative products that meet stringent specifications and performance requirements.”
