PPG announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® project to help beautify the grounds of the Vila d’Alaquàs school in Alaquàs, near Valencia. The initiative brought together more than 62 PPG volunteers, teachers and parents, who spent two days transforming the school’s playground and external walls.

PPG provided €55,000 to support the project, including more than 240 gallons (900 liters) of SEIGNEURIE® and DYRUP® paints by PPG. These included Seigneurie Perloxane TT paint, a lightweight, mineral-matte facade product designed for high performance.

The Vila d’Alaquàs School is a public preschool and primary school, with over 50 years of history, serving more than 200 students aged 3-12.

“We are delighted to be part of the Colorful Communities program,” said Cristina González, Principal of Vila d’Alaquàs School. “This initiative offers the school a unique opportunity to improve its facilities. Thanks to all the volunteers, our students now enjoy a brighter and more inspiring environment that reflects the values we teach every day: inclusion, belonging and community. This initiative has brought joy and pride to everyone involved.”

PPG volunteers selected vibrant colors to renovate the school’s exterior walls, playground and the sports area. In collaboration with distributor Tricolor Group and a local artist, Rosa Ramón, participants also created two murals that celebrate inclusion and belonging, the core values of the school.

“We enthusiastically celebrate the transformation of the Vila d’Alaquàs School through PPG’s Colorful Communities program,” said Antonio Saura, Mayor of Alaquàs. “Initiatives like this not only beautify our public spaces but also strengthen the sense of community and belonging. We deeply appreciate the commitment of the volunteers, teacher, and families who made this project possible, which will undoubtedly leave a positive mark on future generations.”

The Colorful Communities program combines volunteer efforts, PPG products and financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world. In Valencia, PPG has a manufacturing facility for automotive coatings.

“This project is a powerful example of how color can uplift and energize a space, said Nuria Martinez, PPG plant manager, Valencia. “Seeing our employees, families and community partners come together to create something meaningful for the next generation is truly inspiring. At PPG, we believe in the power of collaboration and creativity to make a lasting impact.”

PPG has expanded the Colorful Communities program for an additional 10 years and will commit a further $10 million to the program, taking its total investment to $25 million through 2035. To build on the positive impacts of the program, PPG and the PPG Foundation will also distribute a total of $1 million in celebration grants to 100 previous and current Colorful Communities partners globally this year.

Through the Colorful Communities program, PPG’s committed volunteers contribute their time and PPG paint products to help transform community assets – from painting classrooms to bringing color to a maternity ward and redesigning a playground. Since 2015, PPG has completed nearly 600 Colorful Communities projects, impacting more than 10.2 million people in over 50 countries.
