Sun Chemical and its parent company, DIC, have come together as one company at the European Coatings SHOW 2015 to explain how its product families of pigments and resins can be used together to create enticing metallic coatings for a full range applications in the automotive, architectural, plastic and industrial industries. “Our customers want metallic pigment solutions that produce coatings that both contain superior optical properties and offer stain/corrosion resistance,” said Michael Venturini, Global Marketing Manager for Coatings, Sun Chemical Performance Pigments. “We’re showcasing a wide range of metallic pigments from our Benda-Lutz®family of products that exceed those needs. When they combine our pigment offerings with DIC’s world-class resins, then they can produce some of the finest coatings available on the market. Customers that explore our metallic pigment offerings will learn how each product line in the Benda-Lutz family can be tailor-made specifically to meet their individual needs and ultimately grow their business.” Sun Chemical Introduces New Fine Particle Size Aluminum Flakes in Benda-Lutz MAXAL EC Range Visitors of Sun Chemical/DIC’s booth, located in in Hall 4, Stand 4-452, will be introduced to Sun Chemical’s new fine particle size aluminum flakes in the Benda-Lutz®MAXAL EC range. The two new products offer a superior level of brightness that is unusual for their small size, while providing the same industry-leading stain resistance offered by the line’s state-of-the-art EC encapsulation technology. Benda-Lutz MAXAL EC encapsulated pastes add enhanced gassing stability in waterborne paint and provide superior resistance to alkali and acid staining without impacting the optical properties of the base aluminum flake, for a wide variety of applications including the coating of automotive parts and accessories and outdoor architectural coatings in powder and liquid paints. MAXAL EC Pigments Combined with DIC Resins Produce Super Durable Exterior Architectural Coatings When MAXAL EC pigments are used together with DIC’s CERANATE polysiloxane- acrylic hybrid resins, coatings formulators produce an exceptionally durable, stain resistant, and self-cleaning coating. CERANTE waterborne resins can be ambient cured with the DIC WATERSOL curing agent to produce clear or pigmented finishes with the same outstanding weatherstability of fluoropolymer chemistries. In addition, CERANTE coatings are self-cleaning and highly stain resistant, making them ideal for high volume, low maintenance applications ranging from outdoor living spaces to aluminum cladding and commercial buildings. Used to formulate low- and zero-VOC coatings for metal trim components, DIC FINEPLUS GMA acrylic resins are additives in powder coatings that produce unprecedented adhesion and dispersion properties in aluminum wheel coatings, body clear coats and metallic finishes. FINEPLUS GMA resins can be used to produce crystal clear and corrosion-resistant powder coatings for architectural, industrial and decorative applications. Sun Chemical and DIC Offer Solutions for Plastic in Automotive Interiors For premium mirror-like coatings, Benda-Lutz SPLENDAL offers four unique microscopically-thin aluminum platelet suspensions produced via physical vapor deposition. These vacuum metallized pigments range from a brilliant clean “white” to intense dark chrome reflections and are available in multiple solvents for almost every coating application. The SPLENDAL pigment range finds widespread application for premium consumer electronics, automotive interiors and automotive wheels. Booth visitors will learn how Benda-Lutz SPLENDAL vacuum metalized flakes can be formulated with DIC’s BURNOCK acrylic resins to produce luxurious finishes for plastics in automotive interiors. A best-in-class solventborne acrylic resin, BURNOCK L-AC 1038 exhibits outstanding adhesion when directly applied to ABS, Bayblends, PMMA, PVC and galvanized steels, and provides automotive interior coatings with superior gloss retention, metallic orientation and chemical resistance. DIC’s WATERSOL L-AC 3080 features universal adhesion to metal and plastics as well as unmatched resistance to chemicals and crèmes in 2K metallic one-layer systems. Optimized for automotive interiors, WATERSOL L-AC 3080 is specifically designed for melamine stove systems with low curing temperatures. Sun Chemical’s wide range of Benda-Lutz metallic pigments and DIC’s resins will be on display at the European Coatings SHOW 2015 in Nuremberg, Germany on April 21-23 at Sun Chemical’s booth, located in Hall 4, Stand 4-452.
