A: SYLOID^® MX 110 silica was specifically developed to fulfil the increasing technical challenges of matting environmentally friendly coatings (low VOCs) where film shrinkage during drying is minimal. As an extension of our SYLOID^® silica MX generation, SYLOID^® MX 110 silica provides enhanced matting efficiency and provides customers additional performance to achieve the matting desired while using the least amount of matting agent. This will also allow customers to achieve even lower dead matte system in comparison to other leading products.

Q: What are the applications that SYLOID^® MX 110 silica was designed for?
A: SYLOID^® MX 110 silica was designed for coil coatings applications and general industrial markets, such as agriculture, construction & earth (ACE), aerospace, and transportation applications where superior matting efficiency is key. In addition, SYLOID^® MX 110 silica can also be used in high quality decorative paints, focused on solvent-borne systems. SYLOID^® MX 110 silica offers improved paint stability and great mechanical properties for industrial wood applications as well.

A: SYLOID^® MX 110 silica is a uniquely designed amorphous silica structure that provides superior matting ability at low concentrations. It delivers an environmentally friendly (low VOC) solution in VOC-compliant coatings systems, while allowing use of less matting agent for the same amount of unit. It does not contain respirable crystalline silica. In addition, our silica is a naturally occurring and abundant mineral. Grace manufactures this product in a controlled environment to achieve certain properties.
