The Huntsman Corporation said it donated more than $10 million to local relief efforts and company associates affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Executive Chairman Jon Huntsman, Sr. traveled to the Golden Triangle to announce a $3 million donation from the corporation, Huntsman Family Foundation and Huntsman Board Director Wayne Reaud.
According to the company, the $3 million contribution will be put into a 501(c)3 – the Huntsman Flood Fund.
Huntsman, Sr. said the hope is to raise an additional $1 to $1.5 million.
Gilbert I. “Buddy” Low, board member of the Beaumont Foundation of America, pledged an initial $500,000 to the fund on behalf of the foundation, per Huntsman.
“As the region begins to recover and rebuild, we want to be part of that process and support the communities that have given us so much over the years,” Huntsman, Sr. said. “We are proud to call Southeast Texas home and we are looking forward to the positive impact these donations will have on the people in the local communities and Huntsman associates that need it most.”
Approximately 100 Huntsman associates in the Houston and Golden Triangle areas – who have all been accounted for – saw their homes significantly impacted by the flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey, according to the company.
