PPG announced that its Delaware, Ohio, plant hosted teachers and students from Delaware City Schools.
The event was held to mark National Manufacturing Day, organized by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which aims to address labor opportunities, connect with future generations of manufacturers and ensure the success of the manufacturing industry.
“PPG wants to prepare and educate students for a career in manufacturing,” said Chuck Kochanski, PPG plant manager, Delaware. “We want to make connections by offering hands-on experiences to get them excited about the potential options within the field. We’re excited to host local students and show them all that manufacturing has to offer.”
The students from Delaware City Schools are involved in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) program and were selected based on teacher recommendations. Students will participate in a tour of the plant, receive an overview of PPG’s recent technological developments and employee safety initiatives, and participate in a hands-on workshop.
PPG’s Delaware, Ohio, facility employs approximately 400 people and produces resins and coatings for the automotive refinish and collision market, as well as resins for the packaging, industrial and automotive OEM markets.
