Orion Engineered Carbons S.A. will continue its year-long rollout of the company’s new COLOUR BLACK FW 310, the highest-jet Carbon Black available, at the 34th Biennial Western Coatings Symposium and Show (WCS).
Also, Orion will highlight its portfolio of Specialty Carbon Black grades for powder coatings.
The WCS takes place Oct. 20-23, 2019 in Las Vegas.
“COLOUR BLACK FW 310 can help designers reach new levels of black that previously were unattainable,” said Jennifer Stroh, Ph.D., marketing manager Coatings Americas. “It is an excellent choice for automotive OEM basecoats, refinish coatings and high-end industrial applications.”
An after-treatment makes COLOUR BLACK FW 310 a universal grade that performs equally well in both water- and solvent-borne coatings.
“In fact,” added Carlos Hernandez, senior technical market manager-Coatings Americas, “coatings producers can achieve similar results in applications such as automotive OEM and refinish that require different solvents.”
The Orion portfolio of Specialty Carbon Blacks for powder coatings includes:
“In Orion’s test formulation, the results of COLOUR BLACK FW 1 and COLOUR BLACK FW 171 BEADS showed high jetness even though they were not post-treated,” Dr. Stroh said. “Depending on the formulation chemistry, grade selection can be made to optimize the perfect undertone and jetness to meet product requirements.”
