PPG Completes COLORFUL COMMUNITIES Project at Halton Haven Hospice in Runcorn, UK

PPG has completed a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES project to help beautify part of the Halton Haven Hospice grounds in Runcorn, United Kingdom. The project brought together more than 30 PPG volunteers, who spent two days transforming the hospice’s woodland walk garden.

PPG provided $15,000 (12,000 pounds) to support the renovation and supplied more than 26 gallons (100 liters) of JOHNSTONE’S™ paint by PPG, including Johnstone’s Trade Gori 11 and Gori 99 paint and Johnstone’s smooth metal paint.

The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Runcorn, where PPG has a manufacturing facility.

Halton Haven Hospice provides palliative care for people whose illnesses are treatable but cannot be cured. The hospice supports both the patients and their family members, who are also living with a change of circumstances. The goal is the best quality of life for all.

“Our woodland walk garden has been totally transformed, and I thank the volunteers so much for all the time and effort that was put into the project,” said Eleanor Smith, community fundraiser for Halton Haven Hospice. “The teams on both days were so lovely, and their work has made a world of difference.”

PPG volunteers painted metal benches, wooden fences, planters and picnic tables using colors that were carefully chosen by the hospice staff. The color palette of Racing Car, Caribbean Splash, Blue Byberry, Pine Trail, Ripe Eggplant was based on keeping the woodland walk garden a relaxing and subtlety beautified area for patients, visitors and staff to enjoy.
