Dunn-Edwards Corporation introduces EXTERIOR SOLID-COLOR DECK, FENCE & SIDING STAIN, an all-new, water-based wood stain available in 50 transformative hues to suit any architectural style. SOLID-COLOR was designed with long-lasting UV and water protection to stand the test of time, more so than other exterior wood stains on the market.
“In just two coats, our new stain product can breathe life into wood surfaces, both old and new, thanks to a performance-driven formulation,” says Tim Bosveld, VP of product management at Dunn-Edwards. “We’re very excited to add SOLID-COLOR to our best-in-class lineup of paint products to help consumers rejuvenate their exteriors and continue serving as a trusted paint partner to professionals.”
Joining the legacy paint brand’s lineup of specialty coatings, SOLID-COLOR helps to protect new wood and revitalize woodhat has grayed from time and exposure to the elements with high-quality grain-crack resistance and UV protection.
When tested for durability against competitor exterior staining products, SOLID-COLOR outperformed national brands with strong resistance to dirt pickup, grain crack, mold, and mildew.
The palette consists of 50 colors curated by Dunn-Edwards color experts and inspired by top-performing hues across the Dunn-Edwards Perfect Palette. It includes a range of warm and cool neutrals, like Sedona Sandstone (DESS06) and Vintage Oak (DESS41), as well as bolder yet earthy blues and greens, such as Smoky Brushland (DESS27) and Faded Blue Clapboard (DESS34).
“Selecting a color for an exterior wood stain should be approached with the same care and consideration as any other home color decision,” said Sara McLean, color expert + stylist at Dunn-Edwards. “This new stain product provides the best of both worlds—top performance and plenty of color options— so consumers and pros alike can spruce up any exterior wood surface, from decks and doors to fencing and siding.”
SOLID-COLOR goes on smoothly and uniformly, drying to its final color and matte sheen in one to two hours after application. An additional coat — applied four to six hours after the first — is always recommended to achieve sheen uniformity.
