Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine – North America’s largest supplier of high-performance coatings and fire protection for structural steel – will have a significant presence at 2024 NASCC: The Steel Conference. A team of the Company’s dedicated steel and fire protection coatings experts will be on hand to support the steel industry’s top networking and educational event for professionals in the design and construction of steel buildings, bridges and infrastructure assets.
Throughout the conference – March 20 to 22, 2024, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas – experts from Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine will be available to discuss current industry trends and technology for the steel fabrication, bridge and highway, and passive fire protection markets.
“We look forward to discussing the latest developments in steel protection,” says Paul Trautmann, Marketing Director for North America Infrastructure at Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine. “Steel is the backbone of so many assets in our country and worldwide, and it’s in high demand across a range of industries.”
Trautmann will introduce the conference’s keynote speaker Jerome Hajjar, the CDM Smith Professor and Chair of Northeastern University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Hajjar will deliver the address “The Stability of Resilient and Sustainable Structures” on March 21, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. CST, in the Stars at Night Ballroom.
As the signature annual event of the American Institute of Steel Construction, the conference is attended by more than 5,000 industry professionals and features 300 technical sessions on industry trends and advancements and an exhibit hall with more than 280 booths highlighting products and services from steel fabricators, structural engineers, erectors and coatings providers. As in years past, NASCC: The Steel Conference will also incorporate the World Steel Bridge Symposium, QualityCon, NISD Conference on Steel Detailing, SafetyCon, Architecture in Steel, SSRC’s Annual Stability Conference and SEICon 24.
Throughout the week, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine will exhibit at booth 1735. Company representatives will showcase key technologies and innovative products and services, highlighting high-performance protective coatings for a range of assets. This includes advancements in coatings used for steel in bridge and highway (Zinc Clad® 4100, Macropoxy® 4600, Macropoxy 2600 and the faster throughput advancements possible with these new products), water and wastewater (Sherplate™ 600), and high-value infrastructure (including a full suite of alkyd primers that meet pall aspects of commercial building construction such as standalone corrosion protection, compatibility with topcoats and LEED criteria).
Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine will also showcase the latest optimization of shop-applied fireproofing applications and performance-based structural fire design of interest to engineers, fabricators and designers. The Company’s fire protection experts and specialists will also be on hand to discuss steel fire protection solutions that utilize cutting-edge, in-house fire engineering design software to empower structural engineers and designers to balance steel sizing and intumescent fire-resistive material thicknesses for efficient, cost-conscious solutions.
Available through more than 4,700 distribution locations, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine coatings are ideal for shop application. Service is provided by AMPP-certified corrosion experts who ensure projects use technologies that reduce the critical planned timeline and achieve expected service life.
