BASF has announced a donation of $353,000 to Capital Area United Way. The funds were raised in 2024 through the collective efforts of BASF and its employees, including during various special events, and were officially presented during a jambalaya cookoff at BASF’s Geismar site on May 15. BASF’s long-standing collaboration with United Way includes the Ascension Parish Vision Council, a joint effort between BASF, United Way, and other industry and community partners which aims to identify and address needs in the parish. A significant portion of the funds raised in 2024 will be dedicated to supporting this work. “BASF is committed to making a positive impact in our community, and we are honored to support Capital Area United Way in their mission,” said Jerry Lebold, Senior Vice President and General Manager of BASF in Geismar. “This donation reflects the dedication of our employees and the strength of our community partnerships. Together, we can create lasting change and improve the lives of those in need.” BASF’s annual jambalaya cookoffs not only celebrate employees’ contributions in the Capital Area in 2024 but also mark the beginning of BASF’s fundraising efforts for 2025. In addition to the jambalaya cookoff, BASF’s sites in Geismar and North Geismar hold a chili cookoff and golf tournament with proceeds supporting United Way. BASF employees also volunteer with United Way. “BASF continues to be a true leader in corporate citizenship,” said George Bell, President and CEO of Capital Area United Way. “Their unwavering commitment to Capital Area United Way in serving the people of Ascension Parish goes far beyond financial support. It’s about shared vision, hands-on engagement, and long-term investment in real solutions. Thanks to partners like BASF, we’re not just responding to needs, we’re helping build a stronger, more resilient community.”
