What are your expectations for CHINACOAT 2014 in Guangzhou and how does it help your business? “At Chinaocat 2014, ECKART will exhibit its latest achievements in effect pigment developments,” said Eric Cai, coatings marketing manager, Greater China and Vietnam, ECKART. “The exhibit focus will cover different topics of new effects, environmental friendliness and energy saving. And of course, ECKART will meet old and new friends at the show sharing market information.” Have you seen growth in 2014 for the paint and coatings market in China? “Yes, but the speed of growth is not as fast as a few years ago for both economic and government expenditure control reasons,” said Mr. Cai. What are some of the key trends impacting the market in China? Mr. Cai noted a number of key trends: – Coatings manufactures will face coming waterborne system regulations, they need to work out related products to comply with and fulfill the market needs. – Color trend is moving, silver is not as hot as before. – New substrate materials and new coating application methods are playing as more important roles than before, these directly impact the plastic coatings segment. In what segments (industrial, automotive, etc.) do you see the most growth potential? “The growth trend of automotive applications is very positive in China, especially for ECKART whose products are with high relevance,” said Mr. Cai.
