Pittsburgh is one of those up-and-coming cities we’re consistently hearing more and more about. The East End, particularly Shadyside, has been focused on attracting young professionals to its neighborhood with lots of bar and restaurant options, green spaces mixed with urban development and as much shopping as you could want. This push has definitely been working – more people are flocking to the area, creating a need for upscale apartment living set amongst the rest of the neighborhood offerings.
Bakery Living, a 175-unit building owned by Capital Walnut, checks every box – underground parking, indoor pool and gym, dry cleaning and dog walking on-site, large communal balconies and lobbies, and free Starbucks coffee in the morning, making it “the cool place to be” for young professionals. Its central location to the nearby Target, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods keeps the convenience factor front and center, while the community activities like regular pizza nights in the common area help residents mix and mingle. This is a huge draw for many of the individuals who are new to the Pittsburgh area, and the safety and security boasted by the building management also adds to the appeal.
On trend with upscale living, the residence features comfortable décor mixed with modern aesthetics both inside and out. The structure was built using Grand C metal wall panels from ATAS International that were coated in Valspar’s Fluropon® in Silversmith. The vibrant pops of color mixed with the sleek and shiny silver metal give off an unmistakable vibe – this is a place to live and enjoy. The contemporary feel is carried into the common areas of the building where wood panels cover the walls, and a flood of natural light is invited inside through large floor-to-ceiling windows. Lobby and balcony furniture mimic the bright colors on the outside of the building, and the green space in the center of the complex provides an open area for relaxation and getting away from the hustle and bustle in the streets surrounding the structure.
A focus of the build was using sustainable materials. The property management explains that “green innovation is an important part of what makes the Bakery Living community different – and better” than other housing options in the area. As an industry leader, Valspar is committed to high performance coatings that lessen the negative impact on our environment. To prove that commitment, Valspar has over 800 products that meet ENERGY STAR ® and LEED requirements, including Fluropon.
Another important aspect of the build was to select materials that would last into the future and withstand weather conditions with long-lasting performance. Fluropon is field-proven and provides outstanding resistance to ultraviolet rays, chalking and chemical degradation, plus exceptional color and gloss retention.
Residents of Bakery Living feel like they are part of a tight-nit community. They work and play in the neighborhood, frequent the same coffee shops and grocery stores, and live in the structure that offers them everything they could want. Thanks to Fluropon, this state-of-the-art structure both leaves a lasting impression and stands up to the elements, ensuring the structure’s stylish spirit will live on and stand out.
