CURATOR Shares Color Outlook for Post-Pandemic Home Design

The global health pandemic has changed the way we live our everyday lives, from major lifestyle behaviors like how we commute and work to how we interact with friends and family. 

Its rippling effect is even felt in our own homes and working spaces. 

CURATOR, an Irish-based premium paint collection, shares insight on how this new normal is impacting people’s paint color and interior design choices.

“People’s color choices are a response to the world around them,” said Garry Cohn, Curator color expert.

So how is the pandemic affecting the colors that people are now putting on their walls? Well, it depends on how people are coping or responding to the pandemic. 

According to Cohn, there are some general themes paired with specific color schemes. 

• Feel Fresh and Clean: In times of uncertainty like a pandemic, there is a yearning for home design to feel fresh and clean providing us with a beautiful palette of blues and greens similar to the first responder’s uniforms.
  
  
• Feeling Safe: The uncertainty and divide in politics have also created a want for a conservative home environment and the need to feel safe in the form of neutrals, like Curator’s Cotton Canvas, Cumulus Sky and Soft Bisque;
  
  
• Escape to Alternate Time and Place: We also want relief from our world with overbearing media influence and to escape to an alternate time and place conjuring up bold, fun, optimistic and entertaining colors.
