The times we live in can create a sense of anxiety among people, and homeowners are definitely seeking ways to bring a sense of peacefulness into their homes. With Quietude, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams’ 2025 Color of the Year, as well as Naturally Refined, this year’s Color Collection of the Year, a sense of calmness is this year’s strongest trend.
Ashely Banbury, color marketing manager at HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams, observed that Naturally Refined was composed as a response to the current cultural shift toward cultivating a slower, more sustainable pace.
“From the Color Collection, Quietude (HGSW6212) was selected as the standout 2025 Color of the Year for its soothing hue and longevity throughout a variety of design styles, equipping the color with true staying power,” Banbury added.
Banbury said that is a cool sage green hue with slight blue undertones that embraces both traditional and modern elements, exuding a feeling of peace and serenity.
“Because it seamlessly integrates into a variety of design styles and aesthetics, Quietude makes a perfect addition to any living space both indoors and outdoors and creates a calming aesthetic in rooms such as kitchens, nurseries, bathrooms, front doors and more,” Banbury added.
Banbury observed that the selection of Quietude continues trends of recent years.
“We have seen a continued shift toward incorporating soothing, sophisticated colors and materials into home décor in the past several years and Quietude (HGSW6212) represents the next iteration of this movement,” she noted. “While Quietude (HGSW6212) invokes a tranquil and nature-inspired feel in any space, its serene sage green hue with blue undertones provides a soft but steady color saturation that fully embraces homeowners’ desire to incorporate colors alongside warm neutrals into their living spaces.”
Naturally Refined is made up of 10 distinct but complementary hues including creamy neutrals, warm browns and orange, and muted yellows and greens and can be paired in endless combinations through paint, furniture and decor to perfectly tie together any space.
Here are the descriptions of the Naturally Refined color collection:
• Convivial Yellow (HGSW6393), a light yellow with elegant warm tones
• Sequin (HGSW6394), a brightening and uplifting shade with a goldenrod influence
• Nomadic Desert (HGSW6107), a warm tan with a blushed undertone
• Nutshell (HGSW6040), a neutral chocolate brown
• Spiced Cider (HGSW7702), a naturally inspired rust tone
• Snowbound (HGSW7004), a sophisticated clean white with a warm undertone
• Stucco (HGSW7569), an elegant neutral that embodies the luxury of linen
• Delft (HGSW9134), a mid-tone blue with a neutral undertone
• Rocky River (HGSW6215), a deep green that walks the line of moss and emerald
• Quietude (HGSW6212), a soft green with influences of blue
“The subtle contrast and softness of each color exudes a sense of quiet luxury and timelessness that helps create a calming and tranquil living space,” Banbury pointed out. “As homeowners continue to embrace the shift toward color while also desiring a serene and timeless aesthetic, Naturally Refined delivers an accessible palette of designer-curated hues to help DIYers and design enthusiasts achieve an effortless elegance that makes a home feel peaceful and inviting.”
Last year, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams selected Persimmon, a terra cotta hue, as its 2024 Color of the Year. Banbury says Quietude and Persimmon work quite well together.
“When looking for a beautiful, unexpected pairing, shades of orange and sage green hues are a great play on an earthy individualistic aesthetic,” Banbury said. “Use Quietude (HGSW6212) as a foundational colorful neutral for an all over wall color and bring Persimmon (HGSW6339) in for as a pop of color to add a focal point or highlighting cabinets and furniture in a space.”
With an eye on helping homeowners with their design choices, HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams is offering Palazzo, an AI technology.
“By leveraging our platform’s unique features, such as the ability to upload photos of actual spaces for personalization, we’re not just showing potential—we’re transforming how people experience and interact with color in real-time, ensuring they can visualize and achieve their desired space with confidence and ease,” said Raffi Holzer, co-founder of Palazzo along with tennis star Venus Williams and Edward Lando.
“The HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams Color Collections provide accessible, designer-curated color inspiration for DIYers and design enthusiasts, taking the guesswork out of color selection and pairing,” Banbury said. “Because Palazzo’s cutting-edge AI technology allows users to upload photos of their actual space and receive a curated selection of design ideas and finishes that fit within their home, consumers can now experience the 2025 Color Collection of the Year in the comfort of their own homes before ever picking up a paint brush.”
