The group relies on its R&D and industrial capacities consisting of 5 research laboratories, 9 production sites and 6 logistics platforms. And it serves its customers through 378 Stores and E-shops, the ones of its partners, Independant & Builders’ Merchant, Major DIY Retailers and Digital Pure Players​​.

With 3.100 employees, Cromology is present in 8 countries (Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Morocco, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland).

Throughout its 275 years of history, Cromology has acquired a recognized ​expertise in the field of decorative paints. Cromology’s commercial brands stand for its professionalism, its technical and aesthetic know-how and its capacity for innovation (About 20% of our revenue was generated with products released in the last three years).

Thanks to a high-value customer experience and quality products offering the best value for money, Cromology aims to develop its presence in the decorative painting industry, especially in Europe, while doing the most to minimise its environmental footprint.​

The business is a unit of Materis SA, which is 76 percent owned by French investment firm Wendel.  Materis Paints is Europe’s fourth-largest manufacturer of decorative paint and manufactures, sells and distributes a wide range of decorative paint and technical products to professionals and consumers. 66 percent of its activity is in France, 28 percent in the rest of Europe and eight percent in emerging economies. Materis Paints has strong local brands in the top three of each of its markets (Tollens and Zolpan in France, Robbialac in Portugal, Max Meyer in Italy, Colorin in Argentina, and Claessens in Switzerland).

Materis enjoys high barriers to entry resulting from global coverage, innovative and high value-added products, outstanding quality of service, recognized brands and close relationships with its clients. Materis has also built a portfolio of premium brands and an integrated distribution network of nearly 400 sales outlets in Europe (paints) and 1,000 in China (mortars). It has leadership positions in high-growth regions, where 30 percent of its sales are generated (30-50 percent for certain businesses, excluding paints), with margins comparable to those in mature markets.
