RPM International Inc. is a multinational holding company with subsidiaries that manufacture high-performance coatings, sealants, and specialty chemicals, primarily for maintenance, repair and improvement applications. The company has 177 facilities in 26 countries and employs approximately 16,800 people. In fiscal 2022, the company’s construction products accounted for 37% of its total coating sales, consumer products represented 33% and performance coatings represented 18%. The construction segment’s operating groups include Tremco, Stonhard, Carboline and Tremco illbruck. The performance segment’s operating groups are Day-Glo, Dryvit, Mohawk and Petit. The consumer segment’s operating groups include Rust-Oleum Group, DAP, Varathane, Zinsser and Testors.
Recently launched products:
• Rust-Oleum’s new Custom Spray 5-In-1 features technology that gives DIYers a choice of five different spray patterns in a single aerosol paint can. This patent-pending spraying technology increases precision, minimizes drips and reduces waste.
• Euclid Chemical’s latest innovation, EUCON VANDEX AM-10L, is a liquid integral crystalline permeability-reducing admixture with the same benefits as its powdered version, with easier, safer, and more accurate dosing and batching.
• Carboline introduced Hydroplate linings, a new product line specifically designed for the water and wastewater markets. Designed to coat varying types of steel and concrete ground and elevated storage tanks and to provide the ultimate protection for potable water pipes, valves, and fittings, the Hydroplate series includes single and multiple coat linings that offer high solids and near solvent-free options, with high-build capabilities, fast cure properties, and the ability for rapid return to service.
Recent Acquisitions:
In fiscal 2022, RPM made the following acquisitions:
• Dudick Inc., a provider of high-performance coatings, flooring systems and tank linings
• Pure Air Control Services, Inc., a provider of indoor air quality control solutions
• Corsicana, Texas, manufacturing site from ChampionX Corporation
• TnD of Pittsburgh Inc., a provider of exterior foundation waterproofing
• J.W. Brett Inc. (dba Brett Admixtures), a manufacturer and distributor of Euclid admixtures
• Wood Repair Products Inc., a distributor of touch up and furniture repair products
• The Lutz Company's panelization division, a supplier of insulated exterior wall cladding for residential and commercial buildings.
Throughout this journey, RPM has continued to deliver problem-solving and innovative products and services to its customers.
In July 2022, RPM announced its MAP 2025 (Margin Achievement Plan) operational improvement initiative with the goals to achieve $8.5 billion in annual revenue, 42 percent gross margin and 16 percent adjusted EBIT margin on a run-rate basis by May 31, 2025.
The purchase of a chemical manufacturing facility located in Corsicana, TX, is a prime example of RPM’s internal investment strategy. The site has been repurposed to serve as a manufacturing campus for a number of RPM operating companies. In addition, RPM has increased the facility’s head count by over 25% with engineers, scientists and other professionals. This investment is already yielding results – when one of RPM’s largest chemical suppliers suffered a catastrophic event that cut off delivery of alkyd resins, a key ingredient for its aerosol paints, Corsicana’s team stepped in and quickly began producing them.
