Florida-based paint specialist chooses colors that remind one of the beauty of the state’s landscape.
January 24, 2025

Editor, Ink World Magazine
Florida is a beautiful state, with colors ranging from natural hues to vibrant colors. It is only natural that the color experts at Florida Paints would look outside and be inspired by the natural colors they see when creating this year’s color palette. “Our paints are formulated for Florida living, so it was a natural decision to look in our own backyard when developing our 2025 trends,” said Don Strube, Florida Paints co-founder/co-CEO. “We’ve curated a collection that not only resonates with emerging design aesthetics, but also aligns with the evolving needs of businesses, architects, and designers to help them stay ahead of the curve in an ever-changing market.” For 2025, Florida Paints chose “Natural Beauty” as its color trend palette. Its 12 colors include the following, with Florida Paint’s description: • Slightly Hued | R001: As its name implies, Slightly Hued is a bright white with just a hint of warmth. • Winter Air | R079: Fresh and crisp, Winter Air is a soft blend of blue and gray. • Coastal Driftwood | R043: A timeless greige tone, Coastal Driftwood is a gentle gray with brownish undertones. • Freshened-Up | R005: Clean and liveable, Freshened Up is a white with a haze of creamy gray. • Artifact | R070: Artifact is a medium blue-gray mixed with a dollop of green to bring it to life. • Moscow Mule | R131: A dark terracotta with a base of brown, Moscow Mule is a warm, saturated hue. • Foliage | R063: Foliage is a soft green enlivened with hints of yellow and toned down with gray. • Midnight Surf | R095: Midnight Surf is a hazy blue-gray that shimmers with green undertones. • Rum Cherry | R126: Rum Cherry is a delicious and dark blend of red, brown, and purple. • Haven | R065: Haven is a grounding blend of green and gray, with a touch of ochre to add warmth. • Deep Plunge | R089: Deep Plunge is a dark navy – a serene, sophisticated shade of moody blue. • Coal Black | R018: Coal Black is a smoky black, warmed slightly with a bit of brown. Strube noted that the Natural Beauty palette works equally well inside or outside of the home. Florida Paints formulates its interior and exterior paints, primers and other specialty coatings to meet Florida’s unique climate, ensuring they are weather-tested and expertly crafted for durability. “This palette is balanced and curated and is designed to work both inside and outside the home with a full value range of colors from complex whites (Slightly Hued | R001, Freshened-Up | R005 ) to rich and saturated blues, greens and black,” he said. “More vibrant and deep hues like oranges (Moscow Mule | R131) and maroon (Rum Cherry | R126 ) can be used in a home’s interior in a color-drenching effect to create drama and put a contemporary twist on color or they can be used as accent hues on exteriors to including front doors and shutters,” Strube added. “The lighter hues can be used inside to create an airy, fresh feeling or outside on stucco or siding to create a modern and elegant facade.” Strube said that creating a useable and versatile color palette that makes the color-choosing process easy by taking the guesswork out of finding tried-and-true hues for the whole home was a key factor in selecting this year’s color palette. He added that there was a focus on creating a timeless palette that can withstand shifts in color trends to create lasting beauty in the home and to reflect a connection to place and expand the meaning of home to include the beauty of the native landscape of Florida, as well as creating a well-rounded palette that includes a strong assortment of neutrals and saturated hues that lean towards warmth and grounding. Strube observed that this year’s trends rae a continuation of the trends of the past few years. “This palette continues the transition of cool grays and stark whites as neutrals to earthy browns and off-whites,” Strube pointed out. “It continues the desire to see more saturated color in our homes to create depth and energy. This palette taps into our desire to create a safe sanctuary in our homes with colors that are harmonious, easy to live with, and inspiring.” “Handpicked from our Refined Collection by our team of color experts, these 12 colors were curated to be both trusted and timeless,” Strube concluded. “Able to serve as solo standouts or part of harmonious color pairings, this versatile family of hues effortlessly enhances a variety of architectural styles—from rustic retreats to contemporary dwellings.” The colors from the Natural Beauty palette are available through 28 company-operated retail stores across the state as well as Florida Paint’s independent dealer network.
