Micro Powders, Inc. (MPI), a manufacturer of high-performance wax additives, is celebrating its 35th year in business this year. MPI began operations in Yonkers, NY in 1971. In 1989, the company moved its corporate headquarters to its current location in Tarrytown, NY and in July 2006 expanded its facilities. Founded by James Strauss, current chairman of the board, the company’s original focus was micronized wax for the printing ink industry. Today, the company’s focus and niche has expanded to specialty micronized waxes with an emphasis on continuing to develop and introduce innovative micronized wax products for the paint, coatings, ink and personal care industries.
