MICROPRO 600 is a finely micronized, modified polypropylene wax which is characterized by its extreme toughness and matting efficiency along with its ease of dispersion in both polar and non-polar systems.
MICROPRO 600 is formulated from harder, tougher and higher molecular weight polymers than our MICROPRO 400 grade in order to provide both surface protection and anti-slip (non-skid) properties. MICROPRO 600 will impart improved mar and rub resistance as well as solubility resistance when compared to the lower melt point and more soluble synthetic and polyethylene waxes.
MICROPRO 600 is also available as MICROPRO 600VF which has been micronized to a 2.0-3.0 NPIRI grind. MICROPRO 600 improves matting effect in low gloss paints and coatings while maintaining a smooth “feel”. MICROPRO 600 resists solvent absorption and particle swelling in aromatic solvents due to its high degree of insolubility. MICROPRO 600 provides excellent anti-skid effect in Flexo or Gravure Packaging Inks. MICROPRO 600 prevents settling of silica flatting additives and improves polishing and metal marking resistance in low gloss paints and coatings.
APPLICATION AND USE LEVELS: Addition of MICROPRO 600 at levels of 1.0% to 2.0% (based on total formula weight) will impart optimum resistance to mar and weathering in paints, exterior stains and coatings. At levels of 1.0% to 5.0% MICROPRO 600 becomes a very efficient matting agent that stays in suspension, resists burnishing, imparts a smooth feel, and will not lose its effect over an extended period of time. When MICROPRO 600 is used in conjunction with silica flatting additives, its low density helps to keep these additives in suspension.
