Eastern Coatings Show Honors Technical Innovation

Award will honor and recognize the two top technical papers presented at the show.

To promote innovation and the development of new technology in the coatings industry, the Pflaumer Honors for Innovation awards will be presented at the Eastern Coatings Show (May 14-15, 2019 in Atlantic City).
 
Pflaumer Brothers, Inc. of Ewing, NJ, is sponsoring the awards to honor and recognize the two top technical papers presented at the show.
 
The honorarium for the most outstanding technical paper at the show is $2,000 and the honorarium for outstanding technical paper is $1,000.  
 
A total of 42 technical papers relating to coatings technology are scheduled for presentation during the show by technology leaders of the coatings industry.  
 
The keynote speaker is Kevin Braun from PPG and an Open Panel discussion is on the agenda for the show.
 
The Pflaumer Honors for Innovation awards are determined by the Eastern Coatings Show technical committee chaired by Charles “Chuck” Shearer of DSM Coating Resins.  
 
Members of the Technical Committee are Loyd Burcham of Stonhard, Dana Charron of Interpolymer, Chuck Jones of BASF and Carl Sullivan of Stanchem.  
 
Each paper submitted for presentation at the Show is screened by members of the committee and the two winners are selected based on criteria that include innovation, professionalism, technology competence, and preparation.
 
“Papers presented this year cover a very wide range of coatings technology,” said Harley McNair, president of Pflaumer Brothers, sponsor of the Awards. “The papers include such topics as Colorants for UV Coatings, Smart Corrosion Inhibitors, Photo-Latent Catalysis for 2K Urethanes,  Self-Matting Polyamide-Urethanes, Fungicides for House Paints, and Novel Curing Agents for Epoxies.”
 
“Interest in the Eastern Coatings Show this year is excellent,” said David White, VP Technical Services at Pan Technology and president of the Board of Directors for the Eastern Coatings Federation, which sponsors the ECS.  “Our technical program this year will give everyone the opportunity to see the industry’s latest technology developments. The conference kicks off with a poolside reception Monday evening at Harrah’s Resort followed by two full days of technical presentations and discussions by industry leaders.”
